In 2 Corinthians 5:17 it says, "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." What is 2 Corinthians 5:17 talking about? Many Christians today read the Scriptures, they quote the Scriptures, but they do not have spiritual understanding of what the Scriptures are saying.
In 1 Corinthians 15:45-47 it says, "And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit...Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual...The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven." This tells us that there are two creations of mankind. The first creation of mankind was man in the flesh, called "Adam," meaning "mankind." Then there was a second creation of man in the Spirit, called "the last Adam" also meaning "mankind."
These are two different creations of mankind. The first Adam was "a living soul," with a body of flesh and bones (created of this earth). "The second man is the Lord from heaven," a life giving Spirit (from heaven).
The first Adam was not spiritual, whereas the second Adam is spiritual. The first Adam was in the flesh, whereas the Second Adam is in the Spirit.
It is sad that so many are not teaching the truth that is revealed in Genesis 2:7 & 1 Corinthians 15:35-57. It has been in the Bible for almost two-thousand years. Still there are many teaching another doctrine. If Christians knew the truth, their whole lives would change and they could walk like Jesus walked. In 1 John 2:6 it says, "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."
Adam was the first man created in Genesis 2:7. Adam was not spiritual, but was earthly of this earth with "a terrestrial body" of flesh and bones (which needs air to breathe).
Christ is the last Man, created by God the day that Jesus arose again from the dead, with "a celestial body" (spiritual body), that does not need air to breathe. In Christ Jesus, we have eternal life, the same life that God has (which is called "zoe" in the Greek). This is the very life of God, which was in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In this new life we can enter into heaven and spend eternity with God.
Why do Christians still want to live like the world lives, when they should be living like God lives? How sad it is that Christians have been so long deceived by the enemy, not believing the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
A Real Christian
Today, within the churches there are many calling themselves Christians. Just saying a person is a Christian does not make them a Christian. The word Christian is speaking of "someone who is born again in Christ Jesus." Being born again in Christ Jesus, means that Christ dwells in us and we dwell in Christ. Therefore, we are a new creature, created in the likeness and image of Jesus Christ.
There are many today, calling themselves Christians who have been deceived by religious spirits. This is not good, for many who think they are Christians will find out too late that they were never truly "born again."
In John 8:31,32 it says, "Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed...And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." This statement that Jesus made caused a reaction by certain Jews. They were sure they were free, being that they were of the linage of Abraham, through Isaac and Jacob. They were not Gentiles, but they were truly children of Israel, and they could trace their ancestors all the way back to Abraham. Therefore, in John 8:33 it says, "They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?"
Then in John 8:34-36 it says, "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin...And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever...If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." Today, among those who claim to be Christians, many are continuing to live in sin. They go to churches, they read their Bibles, but their heart is not right. Their Christianity is only in appearance, not in truth. They are doing the things that they say makes them a Christian, but their heart is not changed.
There is a lot more to Christianity than going to Church and confessing that they know Jesus Christ as the Son of God. With all their head knowledge, and intellectual knowledge they have become religious. They claim to be serving God (a servant), but they are not truly Children of God "born of the Word and the Holy Spirit" (John 3:6).
Many of these have been told that by water baptism as an infant, they were born again. They continue to try to live the life of a Christian by doing all the good things the Bible talks about. But, there is something missing in their lives. The Anointing is missing. They are servants in their minds, but they are not Children of God by the New Birth in Christ. The servant does not abide in the household of God, for he is only a servant. The Children of God do abide in the household of God, for they are true Children of God by a new birth in the spirit.
Those who are calling themselves Christians and are not truly born again are trying to make themselves perfect by following all the doctrines and theologies of the religious group they belong to. They do whatsoever they are told to do, to the best of their ability, but it is still a work of the flesh and not of the Holy Spirit.
There is a big difference between knowing all about Jesus Christ, and being "in Christ." Knowledge does not make a person a Christian. It takes the Holy Spirit and the Word of God working together to cause a person to become born again into the Body of Christ. This is a personal relationship with God, established by making a commitment to Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior. An infant child at eight days old cannot make a personal commitment to the LORD. Neither can someone else make that commitment for them.
Liquid water, cannot cause a new birth in the spirit of an individual. Therefore, water Baptism cannot cause a new birth in the spirit of an individual person. Do not continue to live without the evidence of the New Birth. Do not continue to live without the Holy Spirit working in your life. The Word of God is true. The Holy Spirit will teach you the truth. The teachings of men will deceive you.
There are many teaching man's doctrines of how to become born again by water baptism. There is only one way to become born again and that is explained in the Scriptures.
Speaking of Jesus Christ, in John 1:10,11 it says, "He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not...He came unto his own, and his own received him not." Then speaking of those who truly are born again it says, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name...Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God" (John 1:12,13).
The new birth is a work of God, and not of man. It is not according to the will of the flesh, or the will of man (men, who think they are doing God's will by infant baptism). It is a new birth by the Word of God and the Holy Spirit (whereby God looks at the hearts of those who come to receive Jesus Christ as their LORD and Savior).
The new birth into the Spirit of Christ cannot be done by religious people according to their doctrines and theologies. There must be a desire in the heart of the person that wants to become born again. I was deceived myself for many years by the doctrines and teachings of man. Through the teachings of men (I hoped that if I died I would go to heaven). You cannot get to heaven on hope. It must be a true experience of a new birth into the Body of Christ.
I did not have peace in my spirit. At the age of forty-five I cried out to the LORD from my heart. I told the LORD that I could no longer live the religious life I had been living. I asked the LORD to become the LORD of my life. I asked the LORD to take over in my life, and I would follow Him to the best of my ability.
The LORD answered my prayer that night and my whole life changed. My thoughts were no longer to gain material things in this world. My thoughts were only to follow the LORD. It was a new life, a new beginning. The old desires of my life had passed away, and all I wanted to do was serve the LORD.
One of the things I noticed was that I wanted to read and study the Scriptures as much as I could. It seemed to me that the Word of God was more important to me than anything else. It was also evident that when I read the Word of God it had a lot more meaning to it. It was not a history book, it was changing my life and the way I lived.
All of my desires for the things of this world were gone. Only the Word of God was important to me at that time. I also noticed that there was a great desire to receive the Baptism in the Holy Spirit within me. I knew that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit was the will of God for my life. I knew I needed the Holy Spirit to help, lead, guide, comfort, and teach me. It was a knowing within me.
Once I received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, the manifestations of the evidence of the anointing immediately began. At first, it was the manifesting of healing. Many people that I prayed with received healing. Even in my mind, I could not understand it. I could not understand why they got healed by me simply laying my hands upon them and praying for them? It took a long time for me to understand that it was the anointing within me that was causing them to receive healing.
Every Christian should have the anointing of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Every Christian should be laying hands upon the sick and seeing them receive their healing. Then I began to notice that the Holy Spirit was teaching me from the Word. Parts of Scripture verses would come to me, without me even thinking about them. When I would look them up in the Bible, I would see what it said. I learned from what came from my spirit by the Holy Spirit within me. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and He teaches us from our spirit not from our mind.
When a person is truly born again they have peace in their spirit, and they know beyond all doubt that they are truly born again (Rom. 8:16; 2 Cor. 1:22; 1 John 3:24; 5:10). When a person is truly born again there is an inward witness of the Spirit of God in their spirit.
There is a major difference between being taught by men and being taught by the Holy Spirit. Yet, Jesus made it clear when He said, "It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God..." (John 6:45). Religious people are taught by men. Christians are to be taught by God.
In every area of our lives as a Christian, there must be evidence of the Holy Spirit working to help, guide, comfort, lead, and teach us all things. There are many places where Jesus talked about the Holy Spirit working in the lives of those who are truly born again. In John 4:23,24, Jesus said to the woman at the well, "But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him...God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."
True worship comes from our spirit by the anointing of the Holy Spirit within us. Worshiping from our mind is not worshiping God "in spirit and in truth." Multitudes of people calling themselves Christians are trying to worship God from their minds. God is not pleased with those who operate from their minds. God is only interested in those who submit to the Holy Spirit, and worship God from their spirit, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit within them.
Therefore, Jesus said unto certain Jews in John 8:37,38, "I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you...I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father."
Then the truth was made known. "They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham" (John 8:39). If a person is truly born again, they will have a desire in their heart to be baptized in the Holy Spirit, and be led, guided, and taught by the Holy Spirit, not by religious men (who want to control others for their glory). Either it is God doing the works from our spirit, or men working from their natural mind.
The Holy Spirit works from the spirits of those who are truly born again. Men work from the minds of people who become religious and think they are doing the will of God. It is the anointing within us that does the teaching. In 1 John 2:27 it says, "But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him."
How does God teach His Children? In Isaiah 28:9-11, it says, "Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts...For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little...For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people." In 1 Corinthians 14:2 it says, "For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries."
As Christians are faithful to pray in the Spirit, God will teach them mysteries (things they do not know, or have not learned in the natural). God will teach us how to live in the Spirit, and walk in the Spirit. God will teach us all things that pertain to God and our position in Christ Jesus. Christians who are not taught by God are being deceived, thinking what they are doing is the will of God. We need to be certain in our lives that we are being taught by God and led by the Holy Spirit.
The new birth "in Christ" is not a physical birth in the flesh. It is a spiritual birth in the Spirit. We cannot normally see spiritual things with our natural eyes. Neither can we feel spiritual things with our hands, for spiritual things are not seen with our natural eyes or felt with our physical being.
A "mature Christian" is one who "walks after the Spirit and not after the flesh" (Rom 8:4-7; Heb. 5:14). A mature Christian believes "with their heart," not just their mind. In Romans 10:9 it says, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." This is written to Christians who need to be saved, which means "delivered and/or protected." As long as we are in this world we will need to be delivered and protected from the works of the enemy.
Our Living Soul
In this world we still have an earthly body of flesh and bones, which is mortal. Mortal means that "death resides within our body of flesh and bones." We still have our living soul, which contains our natural mind of the flesh. This is the same living soul we were created in Adam with.
Man is a living soul, and remains the same living soul he was created in (Gen. 2:7; 1 Cor. 15:45,46). Therefore it tells us in Romans 12:1,2, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service...And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." The presenting of our bodies a living sacrifice and the renewing of our mind is our responsibility.
Before we leave this earth for the last time, it is our responsibility to renew our mind. After we leave this earth for the last time, our mind which is corrupted by sin will be changed and we will no longer have a mind that is corrupted by sin (1 Cor. 15:51-54).
Be careful of the teachings of men, for they do not agree with the written Word of God. The "inspired" written Word of God is a living Word. It can change our lives to live like Jesus lived, and walk like Jesus walked. But, if we let men teach us things that do not agree with the "inspired" written Word of God, we will become religious and may even get into psychic operations of the demonic spiritual realm. Christians who operate in psychic demonic powers could lose their inheritance in heaven. Romans 6:16 says, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"
Those who operate in the ministry for their own benefit, seeking to receive for themselves glory and positions are in danger of being rejected when they stand before the LORD. It is important that Christians do not get into positions of wanting to receive glory and honor within the Body of Christ.
Whatsoever we do in the ministry, it must be by the leading, guiding, and teaching of the Holy Spirit, not the desires of the natural mind. If it is not God starting, continuing, and completing the operations within the Churches, it could be Psychic.
In 1 Peter 4:11 it says, "If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." Mature Christians do not belong doing their own will. Christians should learn to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit, and then when they speak it will be by the anointing of the Holy Spirit within them. It will not be according to the desires of the flesh. The Holy Spirit will put the words in our mouth, that we speak according to the will of God and not according to the will of the flesh.
Our living soul was corrupted by sin in the garden of Eden. Corruption implies that our mind "does not think the way God thinks." Our thoughts are not God's thoughts. In Isaiah 55:8,9 it says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD...For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
Romans 12:2 says, "...be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." It is important that Christians renew their minds upon the Word of God. Most Christians today are still conformed to this world. They think the same way the world thinks, and they still talk the way the world talks. They do things the same way the world does things. This is not good to say the least. It is simply a demonstration of immaturity in the things of God.
Hebrews 5:14 says, "...strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." Being that our natural minds are still corrupted we must train our natural mind "to discern both good and evil." What is of God is good, and what is not of God is evil. Christians need to discern that which is good and that which is evil?
Christians should no longer walk by sight, but by faith in God and His Word (2 Cor. 5:7). The natural man of the flesh believes with their natural mind. This believing is all head knowledge, believing things they have learned by intellectual knowledge. Immature Christians are still controlled by their mind of the flesh, which operates according to the natural senses.
Let us look at an example of walking according to our natural mind of the flesh and walking after the Spirit. In Matthew 14:23-33 it tells of a time when Peter walked on water. The disciples were crossing the sea when they saw Jesus coming to them walking on the water (Matt. 14:23-26). Then Jesus spoke to them "...saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid" (Matt. 14:27). It tells us, "And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water...And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus" (Matt. 14:28,29).
Peter was a man, just as you and I. Peter did walk on the water just as Jesus was walking on the water. Therefore, it is possible for people to walk on water. How did Peter do it? Peter believed in his heart that when Jesus told him to come, he could walk on water just as Jesus was walking on the water. It is the believing in the heart that makes the difference.
Look what happened? It says, "But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me" (Matt. 14:30). If Christians are going to let their natural mind of the flesh control what they do, "they will sink..." We cannot walk after the flesh and after the Spirit at the same time. In 1 John 2:6 it says, "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked." We must choose to walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh if we want to walk like Jesus walked.
In Galatians 6:7,8 it says, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap...For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." Sowing to the flesh is simply operating according to the thoughts of our natural mind. The world operates according to the thoughts of their natural mind, and the world is living in corruption.
Christians should renew their minds to operate according to the written Word of God, and not according to the flesh (which is controlled by the five senses and intellectual knowledge).
Natural people believe according to what they have been taught. These are all natural mind operations, which only leads to more corruption, and corruption leads to death.
Christians are truly new creatures in Christ Jesus. God says, we are a new creation of mankind. We are still the same living soul we were before we are born again. But, we have a new spiritual body in Christ Jesus. We also have a new spirit in Christ Jesus.
Our "living soul" was adopted by God and translated from the flesh of Adam into the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9; Col.1:13). We are no longer natural, but now we are spiritual. Adam was not spiritual as it tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:45-47. Christ is Spiritual, as it also tells us in 1 Corinthians 15:46-49. If we are to walk like Jesus walked, we must believe what the written Word of God tells us and stop believing the teachings of men that try to tell us that Adam was spiritual.
The teachings of men could hinder us in obtaining unto the resurrection of the dead, wherein we will be changed completely. Our mortal bodies will become immortal, and all corruption in our soul will become incorruption. We will agree with God according to His Word in everything we do. For those who obtain unto the resurrection of the dead, they will be in total agreement with God just as Jesus was in total agreement with the Father when He walked this earth.
Let us go on to perfection, living and doing the will of God here on earth. Not following the teachings of men, but be taught by the Holy Spirit all things that lead to life and godliness in Christ Jesus.
It is our responsibility to renew our minds on the written Word of God that we are no longer conformed to this world, but transformed to believe the Word of God from our heart, not just in our mind.
Our Spiritual Body
Christians have a spiritual body. In 1 Corinthians 15:44 it tells us, "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body." We came into this world with a natural body of flesh and bones. In Christ we also have a spiritual body. The Bible is not clear on the difference between the resurrection body and the spiritual body.
Jesus had a spiritual body when he lived upon this earth for thirty-three and one-half years. After Jesus arose again from the dead, He had a resurrection body of flesh and bones. In Jesus' resurrection body of flesh and bones, He was able to appear and disappear while in the midst of others (Luke 24:31,36).
Some Christians today have seen their spiritual bodies. These manifestations of the spiritual body are not uncommon, yet there are not very many who have had these experiences. Many times they appear in their spiritual bodies at the point of death, and then return to life and tell about their experiences while out of their natural bodies.
Some Christians have experienced being out of their natural bodies at times, then returning to their natural bodies again. One brother in the LORD told about his experience of seeing both his natural body and his spiritual body while lying on a bed. The LORD supernaturally let him see both his natural body and his spiritual body, that he would understand both bodies. He said "his natural body and his spiritual body both looked alike."
I had an experience myself, where I was out of my natural body for a period of time, then returned to my natural body. (This testimony is in many of the free books on the Internet). Others have had reports of being places in the world, whereby they have ministered to others in their spiritual bodies, while in another place in their natural bodies.
For Christians, God is in control of our spiritual body, not man. We do not go places in our spiritual body by our own choosing. The Holy Spirit determines when we leave our natural body and when we return.
There is an "out of the natural body" operation in the Satanic realm also, which is called "astral projection." Christians should never let themselves get involved in any Satanic operations. These could cause them to lose their inheritance in heaven.
There is also an operation called "translation," whereby our physical bodies are translated from one place to another. Philip experienced translation in Acts 8:39,40.
Whatever we do, let us not be the ones doing it, but let it be God working in our lives for His glory. If it is not of God, let us not get involved in it. Whatsoever is not of God, is of the Devil, and Christians should never submit themselves to any works of the Devil.
