God wants everyone well and healthy. In Psalm 107:20 it says, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." This is talking about the Children of Israel in the wilderness. When they cried out to the LORD He healed them.
Satan is the author of sin, sickness, disease, and death. Christians are "Children of God in Christ Jesus" (2 Cor. 5:17). Christians are "one Spirit with the LORD" (1 Cor. 6:17). Christians are "born again of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God" (John 3:6, 1 Peter 1:23). Christians are "joint-heirs with Christ" (Rom. 8:17). Christians are "redeemed, sanctified, and justified," by God in Christ Jesus (Gal. 3:13; Heb. 2:11; Rom. 3:24).
When we see all that God has done for us in Christ Jesus, we should know that God is Love (1 John 4:8). God loves us so much that He adopted us out of this world to be His very own in all eternity (Eph. 1:3-6).
In Joel 2:32 it says, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered..." In Acts 2:21 it says, "And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved."
"Saved," means "delivered and protected." When we see all that God has done for us, and we need healing for our bodies, we should call upon the name of the LORD and be delivered and protected from all sicknesses and diseases.
The word "whosoever" includes anyone and everyone who will call upon the name of the LORD. That includes Christians who are already children of God in Christ Jesus.
In Hebrews 5:9 it says, "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him." Obedience is necessary to receive salvation from whatsoever we have need of. God wants His children healed and healthy. That is God's desire for all those who are born again in Christ Jesus.
God Wants You Well
Consider God and His love for His own Children in Christ Jesus. God had a plan before He created the earth and all that is upon the earth. Included in God's plan was the creation of mankind, "male and female" (Eph. 1:3-6, Gen. 1:26-28).
God's plan for mankind is beyond our imagination. Man cannot comprehend all that God has planned for man from the foundation of the world. In all of this, God's plan for man goes way beyond this earth and all that we can see and know. God's plan for mankind began to come to pass when the LORD God created Adam in the beginning.
Adam was the first man created upon this earth. Everyone born into this world came from Adam, who was the first man created by the LORD God in Genesis 2:7. Then, the LORD God created Eve from Adam's rib to be Adam's help meet. Out of Adam and Eve every human being was born into this world (Acts 17:26). Everything that the LORD God created in the beginning was good (Gen. 1:31).
In Genesis 3:1-6, the serpent came to Eve and deceived her and she disobeyed the LORD God. Then Eve talked with Adam and Adam disobeyed the LORD God. This disobedience brought sin and death upon all mankind. Along with the sin and death came sickness and disease.
Sickness and disease are the results of a work of the Devil. Satan is the Devil, and he brings sickness, disease, and infirmities upon people. God hates sin, sickness, disease, and infirmities among people. Therefore, in Genesis 3:15, the LORD God informed mankind that He would come into this world and destroy the works of the Devil in the lives of those who will obey Him.
As time went on, the LORD continued to reveal His plan for mankind. His plan for mankind included making covenants with mankind. Although God never turned anyone away who would come to Him with a sincere heart and seek His help in a time of need, God still went according to His covenants that He made with mankind.
Included in the covenants that the LORD made with mankind to the Children of Israel it says, "If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put (permit) none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought (permitted) upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee" (Exodus 15:26).
The thing that most Christians do not understand about the Hebrew language is that many words cannot be translated by man's idea of what they mean. Words used in the Hebrew language change according to their usage in the statements they are used. Also, purposely, the Scriptures are written for those whom God will reveal spiritual things to. Therefore, the Scriptures must be spiritually discerned, not naturally understood. It says in 1 Corinthians 2:7-14, "But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory...Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory...But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him...But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God...For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God...Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God...Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual...But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
People all over the world take the Scriptures and think they can understand them with their own wisdom and knowledge. They are deceived, just as much as Eve was deceived in the beginning. Mankind does not have the ability to know the truth without the help of the Holy Spirit to reveal it to him. Within many of the Churches today, among those who call themselves Christians this same idea of men exists.
Therefore, they are held in bondage to the world system and are not free of the works of the Devil. This does not mean they are not Christians. It only means they are not receiving their information from the Holy Spirit, but rather from men. The natural mind cannot understand spiritual things for they are spiritually discerned by the Holy Spirit.
In the Old Testament, for many years the LORD did not tell people that sickness and disease came from the Devil. The LORD did not tell the people that disobedience to the Word of God brought sin, sickness, and disease upon mankind.
The LORD did not "put any sickness or disease" upon anyone. The LORD permitted the Devil to put sickness and disease upon those who disobeyed the LORD.
In the Old Testament, when the Devil put sickness and disease upon someone, if they would turn to the LORD and turn away from the Devil, He would heal them (Exodus 15:26).
The LORD is God and He has never changed (Mal. 3:6). Therefore, if anyone will turn away from that which is not of God and turn to the LORD our God, He will heal them.
On the Cross
To make things simple for mankind God declared that the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world. In revealing things to those who can understand spiritual things it speaks of those who do not follow the LORD in Revelation 13:8, saying, "And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." Those who dwell upon the earth and worship the Devil, their names are not written in the Book of Life. Those that follow the LORD and worship Him, their names are written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world.
God knows everything. There is nothing withheld from God. God knows the end from the beginning, and He knows those who love Him and those who serve the Devil. Being that God declared the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, anyone who would call upon the name of the LORD could be saved (delivered and protected) from the works of the Devil.
What the LORD spoke in Exodus 15:26 applied to everyone who will obey the LORD, even all the way back to Adam and Eve. Sin and death were defeated by the LORD Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary. Therefore, whosoever will believe on the name of the LORD shall be saved (delivered and protected) (Acts 2:21).
God is Love, and God loves mankind whom He created in the beginning. God's love for mankind was so great that He sent His only Son into the world, born of a virgin, to live and die for the sins of all who will receive Him and serve Him. When Jesus went to the Cross for us, He took upon Himself all our sins and iniquities, and nailed them to His Cross (Col. 2:13-15). Then Jesus defeated the Devil, stripped the Devil of all his powers, took the keys of death and hell from the Devil, and arose again from the dead to become "the firstborn," of a new creation of mankind.
Therefore, making peace with God for us, Jesus became the Head of the Body of Christ. The "Head," meaning the first one by which all who receive Him become a part of His body here on earth. Having made peace with God for us, He redeemed us from the powers of the Devil unto God.
All who are born again in Christ Jesus are new creatures in Christ. We now have power over the works of darkness, "if we continue to obey the LORD in what He has called us to do." If we do not obey the LORD, sickness and disease will still have a place in our lives. To be free of sickness and disease, we must obey the LORD and do that which He has called us to do.
All that Jesus did for us was because of the love, grace, and mercy of God, who loved us so much that He sent His Son to take away the sin of the world for us. Now, God is asking us to love Him the same way He loves us. If we love Him with "all our heart, mind, soul, and strength," the LORD will not permit sickness and disease upon us.
If there is sin, sickness, or disease in our bodies, we need to find out where did we go the wrong way? Then follow the LORD our God in everything we do? Repent, and receive deliverance from all that is not pleasing to God.
Do not go around looking into the past for every time we missed God. No, look at today, where are we missing God today? "What are we doing" or "not doing today," that the Devil was able to put sin, sickness, and disease upon us?
In almost every case, the answer will be, "where is our faith?" (Luke 8:25). Or our answer may be, "Because of your unbelief..." (Matt. 17:20). Do not ever think it is God's fault that you are not healed. If we believe all that the Word of God tells us concerning sin, sickness, and disease, and healing, we will walk in health. When we understand where sin, sickness, and disease comes from, we can resist the Devil and receive our healing.
If we truly believe all that God has told us in His Word, then we need to repent of those things that are not pleasing to God and receive forgiveness of sins and healing for our bodies. God loves His children and is not pleased when we have sin, sickness, and disease in our bodies.
Jesus was willing to leave His position and place in heaven with His Father and come and receive a body of flesh and bones and live as a man, so that He could deliver us from the works of the Devil. In all of this, how much are we willing to do for Him?
Is the world and the things of this world more important to us than the love of God? Do we love the world more than we love God?
God's love is unconditional. God will do whatsoever He has promised in His Word, if we will do what He has asked us to do? God will deliver and protect us, if we will love Him the way He loves us. It is not how hard we work with our hands to do what we feel we need to do. It is how much do we love God? How much will we be willing to give that the will of God can be done in our lives.
Many Christians have died before their time, simply because they were more concerned about themselves than they were concerned about what God wanted them to do? Oh, how sad it is to see Christians loving the world more than they love God. What a loss of all that God has provided for them. They have come into this world, and have gone, and they took nothing with them. Is it truly worth it, to have all the world has to offer and miss all that God has to offer?
God wants us well. What are we willing to do, to be well and healthy all the days of our life? Are we willing to look to God for His will for our lives? Or do we want to be like those who do not know God, and live only for today and what the world has to offer?
Healing and health are provided for those who love the LORD our God. It is all free, just for believing and doing the will of God. The world has another system for healing and health, but it is costly in our time and our efforts, and very painful in body and soul. It seems to work to some degree, but it will never compare to the Love of God, who can take away all sin, sickness and disease if we will call upon the LORD and obey Him.
God's Way of Healing
In the Gospel of John it tells us of a man who had an infirmity for thirty-eight years. He was seeking to be healed, but looking the wrong place for healing. It says, "After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem...Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches...In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water...For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had...And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years...When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?...The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me...Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk...And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath" (John 5:1-9).
There is a major difference between the way God heals people and the many other ways the world has to offer. For those who do not understand John 5:1-9, all that was going on at the pool which was called Bethesda most likely was not a work of God. It was more likely another spirit, working to keep people in bondage to sickness and disease.
The Greek text does not say it was an angel from God that came down to trouble the water. The Greek text uses the word "aggelos," which also means "messenger." It implies that it was a messenger from the Devil. Satan sends out messengers to deceive people that they do not receive from the LORD what is rightfully theirs.
Spiritual operations of the Devil were not uncommon from the time of Adam and Eve, and are still common today. God does not limit healing to only the first one that can get into the water to be healed. God's healing power is available to everyone who will believe and receive, no matter who they are or how fast they can move. It does not make any difference where a person is? Healing from God can be received anyplace, at anytime.
Sometimes God does require a person to do something unusual in obedience. Such as the case with "Naaman, captain of the host of the king of Syria" in 2 Kings, Chapter Five. Naaman was told to, "Go and wash in Jordan seven times." This was only an act of obedience in Naaman's case. In another similar case in John, Chapter Nine, the man who was born blind was told to "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam." This was also an act of obedience, not much different than "Take up your bed and walk."
God does not play the lottery, rewarding only one person and leaving all the others without His love, grace, and mercy. God does not have people stay in a certain place waiting years and years for some movement in the water. God does not only heal the first one in the water and leave all the rest without healing.
In John 5:7, when the man came with all his excuses for not being healed, Jesus did not pay any attention to what he was saying. Jesus knew the will of God and the plan of God to receive healing. God's will is that everyone be healed. God's plan is to believe the Word of God and receive.
First, Jesus seeing the man lay there said to the man, "Wilt thou be made whole?" Knowing the will of God for mankind, Jesus said, "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk."
This man's healing was already declared done and complete by the Blood that Jesus shed for him on the Cross of Calvary. Even though Jesus had not as yet gone to the Cross, it was declared as finished from the foundation of the world (Rev. 13:8).
All this man needed to do was to believe what Jesus said, and do what Jesus told him to do. The healing of this man was already done in the spiritual realm. Now, all it took was for the man to believe and do what Jesus said to do.
Yes, this man did have sin in his life. But the sin was also declared as forgiven by the redemption power of the Word of God. Therefore, it tells us in John 5:14, "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee." First we must receive forgiveness and healing. Then we must stay free by going and sinning no more.
What Jesus did and taught still works today. Just as it did for the man at the pool called Bethesda.
In 2002, a sister in the LORD was walking down a sidewalk one winter day. There was ice on the sidewalk and she slipped and fell. As a result, she ended up with a hairline fracture in one of her bones. She is a Christian, and believes in healing by the Word of God. She did not go to a doctor at the time, just believed in her healing.
About two weeks later she was still in pain, her leg was turning black and blue and getting stiff. So she went to a hospital and had it checked. The X-rays showed a hairline fracture. The doctor gave her some medicine for pain and told her to stay off the leg as much as possible. By the end of that week she could hardly stand the pain. She went back to the doctor, and this time she was given another prescription for pain. Then she was told that she needed to see a therapist and get some therapy to keep her leg from getting stiff. She was told that if she didn't get therapy on her leg it could be stiff the rest of her life.
The next week she was at my house. She had a little dog she was raising and house training. That day her leg was so painful and stiff she had to sit on a foam rubber pad about four inches thick, with her leg straight out. She could not bend her leg.
Earlier in the day I talked with her and told her about a man I new who was bed-ridden for over a year. When he read Mark 11:23, 24, and decided in himself he would believe what it says, regardless of how he felt: he told the LORD, he believed he was healed regardless of how things looked, or how he felt. Then he took a-hold of the bed post and started to pull himself up, out of bed. His legs were like ropes, they just dangled off the side of the bed. He kept pulling himself up. When his feet hit the floor, strength came into his legs. He stood up for the first time in many months and was healed.
He had been in bed for many months, because he did not believe he was healed before he saw the evidence. I told this sister in the LORD that and then I left the room to do some work.
Later that day I came back into the room where she was and she asked me to get into the Word of God with her. I didn't know what she wanted to read or study, so I said to her, why don't you read out-loud, one of the new books I am writing and I will listen for any mistakes I may have made in typing it.
She read the whole book through, sitting on a chair with the four inch foam pad on the seat, and her stiff leg straight out in front of her. When she finished reading the book, I said, I have to go and do some work and I left the room.
I came back about an hour an half later and there she was bending down normally, putting dog food in a dish. I looked at her, and in excitement said, "hey your bending your leg." She said to me, "yes, it's healed, no pain, no stiffness"!
When she decided to act upon the Word of God and believe she was already healed, the LORD took away all the pain and stiffness. It took a week or two for all the black and blue to leave her leg. But, all that pain and stiffness was gone in a matter of seconds. Once she believed the Word of God and acted upon it, believing that which was not healed, as though it was healed, all the pain and stiffness left. When she got up off the chair and began to walk normal, the LORD took away all pain and stiffness.
Many Christians are in bed, in wheel chairs, using crutches, etc. not believing in the Cross for their healing. It is because they do not believe before they receive they are still in their condition. The healing comes after they believe "without any evidence in the natural, that they are healed." But, if they would do like the man at the pool of Bethesda in John 5:8,9 or the man sick with the palsy in Matthew 9:6,7, and get up and walk, they would experience the power of God, and healing will take place in their bodies. The Word of God is true. "By Jesus' stripes we are healed" (1 Peter 2:24).
It's our mind that receives thoughts that are not in agreement with the Word of God that keeps us from walking in health.
The difference between what the world does for healing and what God does for healing is that what the world does takes a lot of time, pain, and many times healing is not complete. Sometimes, it leaves people with another conditions caused by the treatment they receive. Oh, how much better it is to be healed by the Word of God and have no pain, or side effects. Total and complete healing comes by the Word of God. Whereas the world only offers temporal relief and many times a lot more pain and discomfort for long periods of time.
Why is it that there are so many Christians today who are sickly and have disease in their bodies? In Psalm 107:20 it says, "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions."
How did the LORD send His Word in the Old Testament? First, the LORD spoke to the Children of Israel by the Prophets. Then the LORD sent the Levites to teach the people. When they heard the Word spoken to them and believed, they were healed.
What about today among Christians? God has also sent His Word among Christians, not only through the five-fold ministries, but today we have Bibles which contain God's Word. Today, much more than with the Children of Israel, the LORD has sent His Word to everyone who has a Bible.
Many Christians today are not reading and studying their Bibles daily. Many are not praying daily. Many let it all up to the Pastors on Sunday mornings to hear the Word preached to them.
Every individual Christian is responsible to hear and read the Word of God for themselves. God sent His Word by making Bibles available to whosoever desires one. In some countries, Bibles may be hard to find, but in most countries today, Bibles are available. If Christians do not read and study their Bibles, it makes it very difficult for the LORD to manifest healing in their bodies. They have the Word, but if they do not use it, it will not be of any use to them.
The written Word of God is for everyone, "individually." Everyone needs to spend time in the Word of God and in prayer daily. In the written Word of God is the answers to all our situations in life. To get the answers which are in the written Word of God we must study and search the Scriptures daily. Then we must pray in the Spirit, that the Holy Spirit can reveal to us things that are called mysteries in 1 Corinthians 14:2. These are things that God knows, but each individual does not know. Once we know the mysteries of God, we can act upon them and be healed.
For every sickness or disease there is a cause. The cause is sin, which came in the garden of Eden. The cure to sin is our redemption which was purchased by the LORD with His own precious blood.
On the Cross, Jesus paid for all our sins and iniquities, sicknesses, and diseases. To receive what has already been paid for we must believe in our heart that God's Word is true, then act according to what it says in the written Word of God. Obedience to the written Word of God will bring our healing.
It is important to understand that in the written Word of God we are told of the cause and the cure for all our sickness, diseases, and infirmities. We are also told what to do to receive healing for all our sickness, diseases, and infirmities.
Then we are told in the written Word of God that obedience brings restoration. But disobedience will prevent us from receiving from God all that belongs to us as Children of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore, in prayer and studying of the Word of God it will be revealed to us, what to do to receive all that is rightfully ours.
God works with each person individually. We cannot rely upon others to do for us what God says we should do. In 2 Timothy 2:15 it says, "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." This is for everyone, not just for a few. If we do not obey the written Word of God, God is not obligated to do in our lives what He has promised in His Word. In Luke 18:1 it says, "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint." If Christians do not pray, God is not obligated to heal them when they need healing.
To study and pray is our obligation to God. If we do not do our part, then we are breaking our covenant. A broken covenant is of no avail to those who break it.
Salvation includes healing. Speaking of what Jesus did for us, Hebrews 5:9 says, "And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him." Obedience is necessary to receive salvation from whatsoever we have need of.
