Introduction

This small Mini-Book is written for those who are born again Christians. If you are not born again, or are not positive that you are born again, it would be to your advantage to receive Jesus Christ as your LORD and Savior. To those who are not positive that they are born again, but know that Jesus is the Son of God, Jesus said in John 3:7, "...Ye must be born again."

To become born again, simply (from your heart), ask Jesus to become your LORD and Savior. It is that simple. God is waiting for you to come to Jesus Christ and make Him LORD of your life. You were born into this world with a free will to choose who will be your LORD. Unknown to many, we must "choose to receive" Jesus, or He will not become LORD in our life (John 1:12).

Unless you do become born again, you may not know that those who are not born again will automatically spend eternity in hell (not because they did anything wrong in their life, but because they did not become born again into the family of God).

Only those who are truly born again will enter into heaven after they leave this earth. Jesus said in John 3:17,18, "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved....He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

This believing that Jesus is talking about is not "believing in your head," it is "believing in your heart." Everyone has "head knowledge" of who God is and many have "head knowledge" of who Jesus is. But only those who "believe in their heart" will be saved.

If you know who Jesus truly is, then "receive Him" by asking Him to become your LORD and Savior. Simply invite Him into your life. When you ask Him to, He will come into your life and He will empower you to live a life above all those who have not received Him as their LORD and Savior. From your heart (meaning what you say), just say, "LORD Jesus, come into my life and be my LORD and Savior, I Thank You Jesus, for receiving me!" It is that simple, and if you really mean what you say, you will become born again into the family of God.

Once you are born again into the family of God, you are a child of God and God is your Father. Yet there is something else very important for you. You should not want to remain a little child all your life. You should grow and mature into "a son of God," having the power to do the will of God here on earth. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God." (Rom. 8:14).

To go from a child of God to a son of God, you need the power of the Holy Spirit within you. This power of the Holy Spirit comes with the Baptism in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues (Acts 1:4,5,8; 2:4).

Once you receive the power of the Holy Spirit within you, you must learn how to release that power from within you. As you release the power of God from within you, you will see changes in your life and in the lives of others around you. (The power to live a life above that of others is given to you when you are Baptized in the Holy Spirit).

If you are born again, and not baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, you can be "right now." From your heart, ask God to baptize you in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. Simply say, "Father, I ask You to baptize me in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. I thank You, that I can now speak in tongues by the power of the Holy Spirit within me." Then start speaking in tongues as the Holy Spirit gives you the utterance (Acts 2:4).

If you do not start speaking in tongues when you ask God the Father for the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, then go to someone you know that speaks in tongues. Ask them to help you receive. The reason most Christians do not receive is because of a lack of knowledge of "how to receive."

You Have The Power

There is a lot of information on the subject of "You Have The Power" in "Part 1" of this Mini-Book series. To better understand this subject, read "Part 1" first, then continue by reading "Part 2."

What does it mean by "You Have the Power?" If you are born again and Baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, then you already have the power to work miracles within you. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "ye shall receive power (dunamis), after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." The word Jesus used for "power," is the Greek word "dunamis." The Greek word "dunamis" means, "miraculous power; or force." To understand this power better, it is said that our English word "dynamite" comes from the Greek word "dunamis." Dynamite is an explosive force that is harmless until it is ignited by some type of device such as electricity, or a burning fuse.

The power of the Holy Spirit within us is of no value to us unless we release the power by speaking the Word of God. The Holy Spirit can do nothing without the Word of God. It takes the Word of God to release the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

Speaking the Word of God is the most effective way to release the power of the Holy Spirit from within us. When the Word of God goes forth out of our mouth, it is empowered by the Holy Spirit to accomplish that which is spoken.

Let me give you an example: In Acts 3:1-11 it tells of when Peter and John went up to the temple to pray. Upon entering the gate of the temple they saw there "a certain man lame from his mother's womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple...Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms." (Acts 3:2,3).

Then it says, "And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us....And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them" (Acts 3:4.5). This man was looking for money. This man thought that money would help him. But Peter knew the power of God that was in him. Peter knew that the power of God would do a lot more for this man than what money could do for him. Peter said to the man, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk" (Acts 3:6).The world believes that money will solve many of their problems. But God knows that His Word spoken in faith is what the world needs. God's Word empowered by the Holy Spirit can solve all of the worlds problems.

Peter and John knew the power of God that was in them (following their being baptized in the Holy Spirit on Pentecost day) (Acts 2:4). Peter and John knew how to release the power of God that was resident in them. They knew that "faith in Jesus' Name," by speaking the Name of Jesus over the conditions in that man's life would set that man free of the works of the devil (Acts 3:16).

All Peter did was speak words. Peter released the power of God within him by speaking words, using "the Name of Jesus." The man was healed when Peter released the power of the Holy Spirit from within him.

Every Christian has faith. Faith is released when we speak the Word of God. Our faith is released by the actions we take. Faith is resident within us, but Faith without works is dead (James 2:17).

One day my son was helping me move a heavy piece of equipment from the third floor of a building to the basement. He was on the upper end and I was on the lower end. He felt he had to try to do the heaviest part because he was a lot younger than I was. As we were going down the steps, he tried to hold back on the weight so it would be easier for me. In doing so, he hurt his back and the pain became almost unbearable.

As soon as we finished taking the unit down into the basement, I said to him, "Jim, let me pray for your back." When I prayed, I commanded every bone, muscle, and ligament to be whole "in Jesus' name." After praying for him, I told him, "Every time you feel like there is pain, tell the devil to get out, for by Jesus' stripes you are healed." I told him, "Every time any thought comes to your mind concerning your healing, always say, By Jesus' stripes you are healed."

I didn't say anything to him any more concerning the pain he had or the healing he received. About a week later I asked him, "Jim, how is your back"? He said, "Dad, it is healed, I do not have any pain or any other symptoms. It's just as good as new."

All I did was speak "the Word of God," using "the name of Jesus" against all pain and damage in the area of his back. The words that I spoke released the power of the Holy Spirit to restore health to his back.

This is the kind of power we have as Christians. We do not need to live like the world lives and spend a lot of time and money on doctors, medications, hospitals, etc. when we have a physical problem in our bodies. We have the power "in Jesus' name" to overcome the physical problems in our lives.

Many Christians are born again and baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues, yet they are still living like the world lives. They live like others live, simply because they have not learned how to live like "a son of God" here on earth. They need to be taught how to live as Jesus lived here on earth.

Jesus walked in the power of the Holy Spirit, and did many great miracles wherever He went. Miracles were normal, in Jesus' life. Jesus expects miracles to be normal in our lives also. Jesus said in John 12:14, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father."

Why are Christians not walking in miracles and faith today? Simply, because of a lack of knowledge of the Word of God and the power of God that is resident in them.

Christians who do not "study the Scriptures" are being destroyed for a lack of knowledge (2 Tim. 2:15). Those who do not "search the Scriptures" in the Hebrew and Greek, will not understand the Word of God. The English Bibles today do not give us the true meaning of what God desires for us to know. We must compare the English to the Hebrew and Greek to know the truth. When we know the truth, then the Truth can set us free of all the teachings of men that hold us in bondage.

When you received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, you also received the power to do miracles. That power is within you (in your spirit). That power within you is the power of the Holy Spirit, sent by God to be your Helper, Guide, Comforter, Teacher, and Leader.

In 1 John 5:8 it tells us, "there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." The word "water" in this verse is symbolic of the Word of God. Our Bibles are full of symbolic words, meaning "something that stands for, represents, or suggests another thing."

Therefore, we have three witnesses from God here on earth, "the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and the Blood of Jesus." These three always agree with each other. These are the only three witnesses we have from God.

Satan likes to use Christians to add many other witnesses to what God has given us. But we do not need any other witnesses. The total operation of God in our lives can manifest through these three witnesses.

Anytime Christians get to thinking they have another witness, other then these three, they are listening to a wrong voice. It is not the voice of our God, but the voice of another god, who is called the god of this world (2 Cor. 4:4).

Words are spirit, and they control what spirits do. The Word of God spoken by a living voice will always set people free of the works of the Devil. But, the words of men, spoken by people, will bring bondage and all kinds of demonic operations among people (including Christians). (For more information on "words that are spoken," get the Mini-Books, "Words are Spirit" by Merle E. Koepke. These books are free by downloading them from our Web sites).

When we learn to go according to the written Word of God and the blood of Jesus, and pray according to what God said we will see the results. The Holy Spirit will bring into manifestation "that which God said," and is now written in the Scriptures.

The Flesh or the Spirit

Ezekiel 36:26 says, "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh." When we become "born again," God gives us "a new heart and a new spirit." We are a living soul, with a mind, reasoning, intellect, will, and all our mental abilities. When we are born again, our living soul remains as it was, but we do receive "a new heart and a new spirit."

This "new heart" we receive is not a physical heart that pumps the blood through our bodies. It is a heart that desires to do the will of God. This "new spirit" that we receive is joined "One spirit with the LORD" (1 Cor. 6:17).

When we are "born again," we are translated from the flesh of Adam into the Spirit of Christ. We became "a new creature in Christ" (2 Cor. 5:17). We are no longer in the flesh of man, but in the Spirit of Christ (Rom. 8:9).

But, there are two parts to our human being that are not changed, they are our physical bodies and our living soul (which contains our mind). God gave us the responsibility of taking care of our bodies and renewing our mind while we are still here on earth. We must present our bodies a living sacrifice unto God and renew our mind on the Word of God (Rom. 12:1,2).

Christians are "born again" of "the Word of God and the Spirit of God" (1 Peter 1:23; John 3:5-7). We are no longer "in the flesh but in the Spirit" (Rom. 8:9). We are "joint-heirs with Christ" (Rom. 8:17).

Being that we are born again of the Spirit in Christ, we must learn how to live in the Spirit. Living in the Spirit is not the same as living in the flesh. In the Spirit we live by "the Word of God," not by the words of men as those who are still of this world live.

The world lives by "the words of men," which are controlled by "...the prince of the power of the air..." (Eph. 2:2,3). Being that we are in Christ, we are no longer of this world, but born again from above (John 3:5,6; 17:16).

Being that we are born again "of the Spirit" it should be natural for us "to walk after the Spirit" and not after the flesh. Yet, being that "we were" in the flesh and "we were" conformed to this world from the beginning, we must renew our minds and be transformed by the Word of God, that we can "walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh."

God has done great and wonderful things for us by giving us "a new heart and a new spirit," then "translating us into the body of Christ to live in the Spirit" and not in the flesh. God has done everything He can to give us "an abundant life" in the Spirit here on earth (John 10:10b). He has given us His very own life to dwell in us, making us "one Spirit with the LORD."

The way we live on this earth is dependant upon "our will to do God's will in our life." We have a free will to choose who we will serve, the LORD Jesus Christ, or the god of this world (which is the Devil).

Because Christians lived in this world under the slavery of the devil until they were born again, it is a battle in our mind to reject the world and the things of this world to serve God, while still living in a body of flesh and bones. Most Christians still want to "love the world and the things of this world." Yet, the Word of God tells us we "should not" love the world or the things in this world. In 1 John 2:15-17 it says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him....For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world....And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."

Satan is "the god of this world" meaning, "he has supernatural powers greater than that of man" to operate in the spiritual realm, manifesting as though he is God. Satan used the serpent to tempt Eve. Then Satan used Eve to tempt Adam. Satan still uses people and the things of this world to tempt Christians to desire "the things of this world."

Jesus explained how Satan works among those who have received the Word of God in Mark 4:13-19. If Satan cannot "steal the Word of God out of our heart," he sends "afflictions or persecutions" our way to stop us. If he cannot stop us with these things then he comes at us with "the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things..." (Mark 4:19).

The Bible tells us that many Christians have "departed from the faith" and turned back to following Satan, after they were once delivered from the snare of the Devil (2 Thes. 2:3; 1 Tim. 4:1; 2 Tim. 2:26). Christians should not be ignorant of Satan's devices (2 Cor. 2:11). There is a lot revealed on this subject throughout the Epistles of the New Testament.

How do we overcome the snares of the Devil and his temptations? It is done by walking after the Spirit and not after the flesh. First, we must renew our mind on "the written Word of God." In Romans 12:2 it says, "be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." As long as we remain conformed to this world we will experience the works of the enemy in our lives. We must "know" who our enemy is (it is not people, even though Satan uses people to come against us).

We must put on "the whole armor of God and stand against the wiles of the devil" (Eph. 6:10-17). We must spend a lot of time "praying the Spirit," with all prayer and supplication (Eph. 6:18). We must build up our faith "praying in the Holy Spirit" (Jude 1:20).

Why is it so important that we "pray in the Spirit?" Praying in the Spirit is speaking the Word of God from our spirit, not from our mind. In 1 Corinthians 14:14 it says, "For if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful."

We "are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit," therefore it is important that we also pray in the Spirit. "Praying in the Spirit" is speaking the Word of God from our spirit, by the anointing of the Holy Spirit within us. When we operate by the anointing of the Holy Spirit from within us we are operating in the perfect will of God. That is how God's perfect will is done in our lives.

There isn't any place in the Bible where it tells us that we must speak in our native language. There isn't any place in the Bible that it tells us we must understand what we are saying. But, the Bible does tell us that we should "pray in the Spirit," that the will of God can be done in our lives (Rom. 12:2; Phil. 2:13).

God's will is done in our lives when we yield our complete being to God, to be used by God, to do His perfect will here on earth. When it is "God the Holy Spirit" working in us and through us, then God's will is being done in our lives.

Philippians 2:13 says, "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." God wants to do His will in our lives. God is not interested in us doing our own will. God is only interested in what He does in us and through us by the work of the Holy Spirit within us.

Praying in the Spirit is the best way to let God have His way in our lives. Satan comes against us by thoughts in our minds. When we are praying in the spirit, most of the thoughts in our mind have nothing to do with what we are praying for. Our minds are completely independent of our spirit. (Our mind is in our head, and our spirit is in our belly). Therefore, when we are praying in the spirit, the Holy Spirit within us is in control of what we pray (Rom. 8:26,27).

We need to understand what we are told to do in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5, which says, "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh...(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)...Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ."

The only weapons we have that will bring results are those that God has given us, and they only operate "through God," to pull down Satan's strongholds. If we operate in the flesh, it will only bring corruption. In Galatians 6:8 it says, "For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting." But, if we operate in the Spirit, we will destroy the works of the Devil.

That which is "of the flesh" is that which pertains to those who are living the way they lived when they were still in Adam (in the flesh). In Romans 8:9 it tells us, "...ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."

That which is "of the Spirit" is that which pertains to those who are living in the Spirit of Christ. In Christ, we should live like Jesus lived, for His is Christ. We should walk after the Spirit and not after the flesh. Romans 8:5 tells us, "For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit."

In 1 John 5:8 it tells us, "...There are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one." The Holy Spirit will "only" manifest in accordance with "the written Word of God and the blood of Jesus." If you want to see the manifestation of the true anointing in your life stay with "the written Word of God and the blood of Jesus." The Holy Spirit will confirm the written Word with signs following.
